Tara Romito
Secondary Vice Principal
Tara taught for three years in the public school system in the USA before coming to PNG in 2014. She has served in a variety of roles at UIS including teaching Primary Campus PE and, at the Secondary Campus, Health, PE, Grade 6 Math, and High School Leadership. In 2019 she added the role of SC Guidance Officer to her experiences. In school year 2022-2023, Tara served as the Secondary Campus principal, and in 2023, she is taking on the role of SC Vice Principal.
Tara has a BS in Sociology, MEd in Health and Physical Education, and is currently pursuing an MEd in School Counseling. Her certifications include state of Georgia (USA) certification in Health (K-12), PE (K-12), and Middle Grades Math (4-8), as well as ACSI certification in All Levels Physical Education and School Counseling.
She and her husband, Tony, have 3 children: a daughter who graduated from UIS in 2021 and two boys who attend UIS. When she’s not at school, she enjoys spending time with her family, being involved with her community group, participating in various types of exercise, crocheting, and reading.
