UIS Class of 2023
Graduation Requirements
In order to graduate from UIS, students must earn a minimum of 20.0 credits, a minimum of which 5.0 must be earned at UIS in the areas of Maths, English, Social Studies, Science, and Christian Religious Studies (any combination). Graduation candidates must also have a minimum GPA of 1.0 on an unweighted 4.0 scale. During the final semester, a graduating senior must earn a minimum of 1.5 credit hours from UIS. Typically a student must complete eight semesters of High School in order to graduate, but an exception may be made for a student who has completed the requirements and wishes to graduate early.
Students who have completed the graduation requirements are honoured in a Commencement Ceremony at the end of the school year.
The table below lists the minimum required credits all students must earn to graduate from UIS.
Class Rank
While, due to our small class sizes, UIS does not determine or report class rank for all students, we do name one Valedictorian and one Salutatorian. These honours are based on a Sum of Merit system that takes into account not only the earned marks, but also course rigor and a student’s overall course load.
After Graduation
After graduation, some UIS students take a gap year to work, enter the work force, attend trade schools, or join the military. A large majority of our students, however, enter Universities for advanced studies. For a partial list of universities and colleges where UIS students have been accepted, check out the UIS School Profile.
