Sharon Bowers
UIS School Director

Before coming to PNG, Sharon worked several years as a teacher and then administrator at a private Christian school in the US. Sharon and her family moved to Papua New Guinea in 2009, and she has been working at UIS since 2010. She taught one full year in grades 5 and 6 and then moved into administration, serving first as the Vice Principal at the Primary Campus (2011-2016) and then as the Secondary Campus Vice Principal (2016-2020). She took on the role of School Director in 2021.

Sharon has a Master of Arts in Christian Education (2001) and a Master of Science in Educational Leadership and Administration (2020). She holds professional certification as an All-Levels Principal through the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI).

Sharon and her husband, Paul, are now empty-nesters, their three kids all having graduated from UIS. When she’s not at school, Sharon enjoys reading, woodworking, traveling, and the outdoors.
